On this page I would like to demonstrate the fine art of 1/43 scale white metal car modelling. The handcrafted process I use is based on the centuries old technique of jewellery making and takes up to six weeks. It starts with the carving of a wax block which is then followed by a lost wax casting of a brass master from the finished wax master elements. Finally the brass is refined and re-engraving of the before it is sent on to the white metal caster (White Metal Assemblies ,UK) who produces the white metal kit from which the final hand built model will be made. It is a highly skilled, thought and time consuming process which relies solely on observation by the human eye and an empathy and understanding of the traditional materials and techniques used. I hope you enjoy seeing the process in action on this future Piranha Models release the Ferrari 410S a co-project with Suberfactory.com.
